Chikungunya Detection Kit
PathoDetectTM Chikungunya Detection Kit is an in vitro diagnostic test, based on Real-time PCR technology, for the qualitative detection of chikungunya virus.
About Chikungunya:
Chikungunya (CHIK) is a mosquito-borne viral disease transmitted from human to human by the bites of infected female mosquitoes. It is an RNA virus of the family Togaviridae. The disease primarily occurs in Africa and Asia. Over 2 million cases have been reported since 2005. The cases of Chikungunya have increased significantly in the last 10 years in India with more than 65,000 cases in 2019.
Diagnostic Test for Chikungunya:
CHIKV infections in human are characterized by febrile illness, rash and polyarthralgia, which can progress to a chronic disease. The symptoms are like malaria and dengue fever, which are often co-endemic. Therefore, fast and accurate laboratory diagnosis is essential for case management. The virus may be isolated from the blood during the first few days of infection and tested by RT–PCR method. The kit is inclusive of Internal Control to identify possible RT-PCR inhibition and to confirm the integrity of the reagents of the kit.
Advantages of Mylab ChikungunyaDetection Kit:
- Mylab’s Chikungunya detection kit is a RT-PCR based for detection of RNA of the virus
- Very useful in accurately identifying Chikungunya fever from other similar diseases with similar symptoms like Dengue, malaria, rickettsia, etc.
- A combination of validated primers, hydrolysis probes, and DNA polymerase ensures highly-specific and ultrasensitive results in a single step.
